When you see a red X in the Recording, Publishing, or Performance rows of your review results, it means there’s a problem stopping you from getting all the money you deserve for your music.
Recording
A red X in the Recording row usually means your song isn’t registered with SoundExchange.
What to do: Ensure you're properly registered with SoundExchange (in the US) or your local collection society to collect your royalties from platforms like Pandora and SiriusXM.
Publishing
A red X in the Publishing row suggests:
Missing registration with publishing royalty collection organizations
Incomplete songwriter or publisher information
Issues with mechanical or performance royalty collection setup
What to do
If you’re signed: Contact your publisher for help collecting your royalties.
If you’re independent (unsigned):
Register with the MLC directly to collect your royalties.
Consider joining an admin publisher who can collect royalties for you.
Or join the Notes Registration Beta and we’ll help fix everything so you get paid.
Performance
A red X in the Performance row indicates:
Missing registration with Performance Rights Organizations (PROs)
Incomplete Interested Party Information (IPI) number association
Missing publisher information in PRO systems
What to do: Join a PRO in your territory such as ASCAP or BMI (in the US) to collect performance royalties from radio, streaming services, and live venues.
